Houston, Texas, USA

February 06 - July 04, 2011

The Cruz-Diez Foundation and the Museum of Fine Arts,
Houston, presented a large-scale retrospective of Carlos
Cruz-Diez to celebrate sixty years of the artistic production
of this central figure of contemporary art. They joined forces
to bring together more than 150 artworks, many of which
belong to the permanent collection of the Foundation.

This monumental exhibition (extended over 2500m2) retraced
a personal journey through his reflections on color phenomena,
but also situates the artist into a key period of art history from
the late 1940s to today.

The retrospective was a major event for art lovers eager to discover
or rediscover Carlos Cruz-Diez's international career. From rarely
seen figurative artworks to interactive series, architectural projects
and integration in public spaces, no aspect of what we know today
as an exceptional achievement on color will be left aside.
